I found an interview in italian Enrique did recently about Subeme La Radio, these are the times italian lessons pay off! I tried my best to translate it as accurately as I could, enjoy!

Latin music in Italy it's a synonym of summer, this year you're starting and it's still cold. Are you looking to take over the 4 seasons?

"Maybe I should stop and release the song later.. Just kidding! The timing is very important but if a song will talk to the people, it doesn't matter the season of the year we are at. My music is not only for the summer even if some of my hits happened in this beautiful season. And if Italy doesn't like this one I have a new one ready for May."

How's the latin pop doing? Who should we keep an eye out for?

"Wait a minute.. In the 1999 when I sang Bailamos and Ricky Martin did Livin' la vida loca, it was the latin explosion. I have never liked that term, for me it wasn't an explosion, it was something that came to stay for a good while. There have been some cycles, moments more difficult than others but it's not a new explosion. Latin music is where it has always been. Maybe the half of the top 50 chart of youtube is by latinos."

We have missed you in Italy. What can we expect?

"I'm tense for many reasons. Last concert was in 2009, I feel like I have a lot to say and sing. Also, a lot of my favorite artists are italian. Tense but also excited because now I have a different style, I'll also sing songs that are 15+ years and will take you back in time and are completely different to my most recent songs"

Italians that you admire?

In Miami I always went to every Eros Ramazzotti in concert. I love his music even if I don't understand the lyrics"

Your father was frequently in Italy, any memories?

"I never came with him. But I have some personal ones. In 1995 I toured Italy in car to do some radio promo to my first album. Seeing the Positano thinking "If this this promo, I'll do it my whole life". Later, I spent a month in Milan to record that same album in italian. I didn't know anyone, it was like hotel-studio-hotel-studio... No friends, I was depressed... I took the train to run away to Venezia to be a turist"

How was “Súbeme la radio” born?

"It’s a song about nostalgia, but in the chorus there’s a celebration of those moments in which, despite what happened, you take a drink, you relax and hope that the next day will be better. It’s an invitation to live life day through day"

What is a song that you would ‘turn up the radio’ to when you were younger?

"I would make my house explode with “Money for nothing” by Dire straits"

What about today?

"I still love the radio. I don't know if it depends on the compression of the sound of the streaming or the fact that in the radio there's a DJ that speaks.. But after a concert, the best way to listen to your favorite song is on the radio while you're driving. The radio is going through some difficult times but is still important"

The video for Subeme La Radio was made in the Habana, does it have a political meaning?

"I was raised in Miami, a big part of my friends are from Cuba, but I had never been there. We were there for the atmosphere and the energy, nothing politic."

You are a Real Madrid fan. The pass of the turn against Napoli in the Champions is guaranteed?

"For me soccer is a religion. But the 3-1 from the last time could happen to anyone."

"Talvez deberia esperarme y sacarla despues..

A quien deberiamos ponerle atencion?

"Esperame...
